Contest #1: Best idea wins. Idea submission now closed: Don’t forget to vote on the contest vote post on 2/7-2/9

Contest Time

Ok, it is contest time.  This will be the first contest of hopefully many fun and lively times here at run4change.  The competition will be about WHO CAN COME UP WITH THE BEST CONTEST IDEA.  How are we going to decide who the winner is you ask?  You are going to decided.  Here is how we are going to do it.  I think this will be good because you will constantly be able to see who is ahead and what ideas are comming in.  The winner will get a free writing journal to keep a log of food, exercise, blogging ideas, etc.  (That is a link to the journal info.) We are going to save the T-shirt for the next contest.  So here is the way we will do it step by step:

  1. The contest is on who can come up with the best contest idea!  You can submit more than one idea if you want to.
  2. Leave a comment on this post with you idea in your comment!
  3. After one week of people leaving their ideas in the comment section of the post, I will do a new post with all the ideas in it.  For the next 2-3 days you will leave your vote in your comment on that post.
  4. At the end of the contest I will tally up the votes and anounce the winner who will get the prize.  The winner will email me their address and I will mail off the prize to them.

To stay updated with the contest ideas coming in, subscribe HERE.

Recap- Who has the best contest idea according to you guys.  Leave your idea in your comment.  Vote for your favorite idea in your comment on the contest vote post.  Winner takes all.  The contest will last for 8 days.  Today-Friday are idea submission days.  Next Saturday-Monday are vote days.  I will announce the winner on Tuesday early morning.

you could have people write essays about how they are helping others through their weight loss, how someone else has helped them, what charities they have done races for, etc. etc. You could keep it short by telling them they have to write it in 250 words or less or whatever number you pick.

I love to write haikus. you could have a fitness haiku contest. A haiku is a poem that has 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second, and 5 in the last. They do not have to rhyme. For example:

    Jason has lost weight
He was a very big boy
    Now he inspires

Those are my first two ideas. Can we submit more than one idea?

I am so glad that you came by Melissa. I just brought a huge smile to my face. Yes, you can submit more than one. Great ideas.

We could nominate other bloggers for who is the most inspiring and why. The person nominated would actually be the winner.

So how about a “Heart and Soul” contest? It could be a two part contest. The “heart” part would be about physical health. Either calculated in pounds lost (percentage of weight lost) or hours of exercise accomplished (something like that). The “soul” part could be some sort of community service project or time spent serving your local church. Some of the details would need to be fleshed out — but I like the idea of improving ourselves physically and spritually. Might be too hard to quantify — but worth some thought. 🙂

How about submitting a pic with a short description: “Why I felt amazing here.” It could be a way to focus on times when we FELT great regardless of size/appearance.

“Guess the Kettle chips” idea is hilarious. Only I think the contest should be that the jar (or bag) is on the counter in Jason’s kitchen, and we’ll take guesses at how many days it will take him to tear into them! Mwa ha ha ha….

How about we document the number of minutes we do of exercising a day to you and at the end of the contest who ever has the most time of exercising in, wins. Because exercising is a vital part of leading a healthy lifestyle.

My suggestion is that you do a post on journaling (since the prize is a journal)- your take on it, if you will. Then all of your commenters can add their own journaling (or lack of) experiences and the winner can be drawn randomly from all of those who comment. That way it’s short and simple and fair.

    I also like Melissa’s ideas.

Actually, the journal will go to the one who has the idea that is voted is best. The idea will be used for the next contest and the winner of that one will get a shirt.

I don’t have a fresh idea, but I like teh idea of submitting a photo of yourself describing what you were doing adn whyyou felt great that day or looked good that day or whatever!

I also like the idea of writing about how you are using your journey to inspire/encourage others!

My idea actually came from one of your posts. I really liked the tilapia with veggies and potates you put together that was low points, large portion. I do best when I have large portions even if its mostly veggies. Just works best for me. I think the contest should be creating a low point, filling and visually appetizing meal. People can get really creative and each meal idea has to have a picture with it. I LOVE to cook and finding creative substitutions can sometimes be wearisome. It would be fun to see how creative people will be plus it will give your readers good ideas to ward off the boredom that comes with watching EVERY LITTLE THING THAT GOES INTO OUR MOUTHS. Sorry, its been a long day. Hope people will like this!

I love this idea. I would love to see a post in after the contest with a pic of all the awesome ideas and meals that people came up with. If this does not get voted on, I will do a contest with this idea anyway. I love it. Thanks Jen
