One of my favorite cardio exercises.

Before I started running and during the first stages of my running when it did not take up as much time, I used a rowing machine for cardio.  I love the rowing machine and would like to buy one.  I have not gotten around to getting one yet but I am pretty sure I will in the future.  It is such a good work out for the whole body.  Most people think that it is all back and upper body but that is not the case.  If you do it correctly you will use your legs to produce most of the power and that is a good thing because your legs and your butt are your biggest muscles.  They make up 50% of your body so they burn the calories.  Do you know of any activity that really burns the calories that does not use your legs?  Anyways, here is a video that shows you how to use a rowing machine the correct way so when you are at the gym you’ll look like a pro.

I used to row a lot at the gym, so thanks for posting this. I think that I will hop on one again next time I go. It is hard though. I feel like I’m going to die after 5 minutes. Thanks for always giving us new ideas or reminders of things to try. I appreciate you. 🙂

I love to row. And it is hard. You get a really good workout doing it. I think it helped me lose weight a lot in the beginning.

I do like the rowing machine as well but the only problem is that my gym only has one rowing machine and it’s always being used when I am there so I don’t get the chance to use it. The video was pretty good. I learned a lot about the different techniques you can do on it and I only thought there was 1. Thanks for sharing that as well.

Now… Are you going to keep us all in suspense about how your naked weigh in went last night 🙂

All I can say is that I did not get arrested. I got loud and boysterous applause when I walked in naked 🙂

I love to row! I was in a rowing team in high school, and we went out on the river in the early morning (+ used those machines all winter and at morning practices). It reallllly strengthens your legs, butt, arms, back and shoulders! If you live near a body of water I’d highly recommend trying it outside—nothing like starting your day on the water as the sun is rising 🙂 🙂

Yeah! You ever see when all the people rush the stage at a concert where they are pressed against the gate. HAHA That is what is was like. My mom and sister were holding everyone back and the screaming was deafening. 🙂

We’ll have to call you RockStar Jason, as you do ROCK!!! Plus you crack me up as well. So that screaming I heard last night was from your WW meeting? 🙂 Sound really does travel.
By the way did your wife find what you were looking for?

HAHAHAHA. Actually, I found it. The foot pod was in my truck. I noticed it on the way to work after my dentist appointment yesterday. I will send it off soon. No heart rate monitor strap though. You will have to buy one if you want it but you can always use the equation I gave you as that is a very good way to do it too.

Yes. On wordpress you can actually schedule a post to come out at a certain time. You can even write posts and schedule them to be posted even months later. It is nice.

Yes, they do Kim and it’s good option especially if you know you won’t be by a computer to do a post. Hope I didn’t spoil anything there Jason. I’ll look for the post about your weight loss when I get back from my ride.

You wouldn’t believe it Kim. The one day I promise a post to be up is the one day the schedule thing didn’t work. I had to re-write thhe darn thing.

I was wondering what happened!!! I thought perhaps that we sprung forward here in MI and you didn’t and so maybe we now have a 4 hours time difference instead of 3!!! Oh well…

Man I love rowing. Currently it is not in my work out routine cause of the running and spinning. Maybe I will cut out a spinning class and hit the rower. It’s so hard and awesome. Thanks for sharing.

I rowed at the gym today. I did it for 15 minutes. I had to take like a 30 second break between 5 minute intervals, but I LOVED it. I would have never tried it without your post.

    Thanks again.

Melissa, It was hard wasn’t it. It is such a wonderful exercise. Keep up the great focus and work that you are always doing.

I;ve rowed twice since the last post. I LOVE IT!! I did it 15 minutes without stopping and then last night I did it for 30 minutes with a small break after 15 minutes. After rowing I went on the treadmill and walked/ran my fastest mile yet. 16 minutes 45 seconds. Thanks again for bringing up rowing. I’m loving it and the machines are usually empty at our gym. YOU ROCK!!
